Ron Paul seems to be some kind of cult figure on the web and seems almost certain there is always at least 1 article on digg.com about him when I go there. The thing though is I don't get it. How exactly is this old geezer gonna get the Americans their country back to what it was?

To me he seems like an old outdated man who can't figure out if he is a democrat or a republican.

like if you read his stands you'll quickly realize this guy isn't really for or against anything, he is more like covering his ass so that he will get more votes at least as far as i can see.

the "stands" that he holds and that makes him different than other republicans seems to be democratic views, so why not just vote and elect a democrat? so that you have president that is fully supported by his party? Because clearly Ron Paul is not! Anyway I'm not an American nor have I followed all of the debates but Ron Paul just kinda seems like the equivalent of Snakes on Plane hype for the presidential election.

Being that I will not be voting for Ron Paul I may have some insight. He is what political scientists refer to as a libertarian and not a republican. He believes that the role of government is to stay out of out lives and protect our nation with military and border security. That is really their only view. He is neither pro- abortion or pro-choice as he thinks the government has no right to tell us what to do. Actually his views are very similar to the governmental views of the 1700's. If you think that private citizens can do everything better than our government except fight wars, then look at libertarians as good candidates.
